It’s Friday, why not a goofy post. What kind of DBA are you? Do you pronounce the bit at the beginning of SQL Server 2008 as a word, sequel, or as three letters, ess cue ell? I’m a sequel kind of guy myself for most everyday conversation. I do occasionally break it down when I need really specific clarity, but those events are rare. Anyone else?
And after you answer it here, go over to SSC and answer the question there too.
Maybe it’s just me but it seems like SQL Server people tend to use sequel where as others (Oracle, Postgres, etc) tend to use ess cue ell more frequently.
Could be. The break down over at SSC worked out to about 8-3 in favor of sequel.
I use both, depending. I always use Sequel when referring to SQL Server, but vary between the two pronunciations when talking about T-SQL code.
