I wonder how many would have gotten the Berserker reference if you hadn’t linked it. I remember reading quite a few of those stories in those books as a kid.
I suspect very few. 1) It’s old, and there is nothing worse than aged science fiction, 2) It’s a book. I’ve heard that a pretty substantial number of people who grew up on Star Wars don’t read much. Let’s hope the Harry Potter generation come online to SF quickly.
